Pipacs at the Royal Wedding of Prince Friso and Mabel Wisse Smit

Last April Pipacs had the honour to play at the Royal weddingreception of Prince Friso and his wife Mabel Wisse Smit. At the Palace of Nooreinde (The Hague) the orchestra not only managed to please all the guests with the typical Gypsy music, but also the Queen! The pictures, which are so kindly released by the Palace, give a good impression of this special performance.

Article in Dutch national newspaper

On Wednesday the 16th of June an elaborate frontarticle appeared in the Dutch national newspaper De Volkskrant on the Dutch Student Gypsy culture.
The reports unfolds the special role students orchestras have in keeping the Gypsy tradition alive. In an interview, the Dutch Ambassador in Hungary, mr. Robert Van Nouhuys, recalls his great passion for Gypsy music as a student. By the effort of four student bands every year the Midsummernight Gypsy Festival is being held, gathering all the student and professional Gypsy orchestras.

The article has a great photo where you can see our very own Floris Mantz, Sara de Bruijn and in the back Daniël Bouwmeester playing at the Midsummernight Gypsy Festival in Amsterdam, last year. The caption referring to the Kapel of Wageningen is clearly a mistake.

Pictures of the orchestra

At the moment very few photos of Pipacs are digitally available.
Soon you will find here a lot of pictures of performances, former fillings and the trip to Hungary!

Recently Pipacs was on the cover of the magazine "Het Waterschap", after playing at the anniversary of the Dutch Watermanagement Agency (Unie van Waterschappen). A very special day at the Circustheater Scheveningen, which was also attended by Her Majesty the Queen.

Previous Pipacs played in Hungary at a party in the famous Gerbeaud. Because of the special guests, amongst them Arnold Schwarzenegger, a report of this party appeared in the Hungarian Playboy. A photo of the, according to the caption Royal, Pipacs playing, could not be missed!
